French Language Livestream
Presented entirely in French, this French-language livestream showcases a variety of Canadian short films on the theme of anti-racism, and features insightful conversations with exciting special guests, and questions from students across the country.
Our short film programme focuses on Indigenous perspectives, Black perspectives, and xenophobia. Students have the opportunity to engage through our online platform in polls, Q&A, chat, discussion boards, and more.

- The discussion was live on December 2, 2021, but you can still watch an interactive recording.
- Includes lesson plans, sensitivity support resources, extension activities, and of course, access to the films.
- Suitable for Grades 9 and above, for in-class or remote learning.
- Suitable for native French speakers and FSL students who can follow a French-language conversation.
Adriana Chartrand
(Michif/mixed settler)
Chartrand is the Indigenous Initiatives Lead and Content Analyst for Telefilm Canada. Based in Toronto, ON, she previously worked as the Institute Manager for ImagineNATIVE (the world’s largest presenter of Indigenous screen content), and holds an MA in Cinema Arts from the University of Toronto.
Kimberley Ann Surin
Surin is a filmmaker based in Montreal, QC, and the director of one of our spotlight shorts, Envers et Contre Tout, which was created as part of the Being Black in Montreal series. Her second short, Nourrir Les Rêves, premiered at Hot Docs earlier this year, and she is currently writing her first feature film.
