The conversation with special guests and accompanying lesson unit explore filmmaking, highlight career paths and provide expert insights.

Maude Alphonso

Maude Alphonso has been passionate about film since a very young age and decided to make it her career. Her initial goal was to become a director, but during her studies in film, she discovered an array of jobs available in the field. Maude developed a love for production and since then has been working relentlessly to climb the corporate ladder in hopes of becoming a Production Manager. Examples of projects she’s worked on include – Commercials: Ikea, McDonalds, Sephora, PayPal. Music videos: PNL, Angèle, Dizee Rascal. Movie: SpongeBob 3. And currently, she is working on a variety of projects.

Christopher Grant

(Mi’gmaq)

Christopher Grant is a Mi’gmaq (“Meh-g-mahk” OR “Meeg-Mah”) filmmaker from Pabineau First Nation, New Brunswick. Inspired by life and death, Chris animates to express the humour and terror of existence. He has directed music videos and animations, and his work is part of the NFB’s Hothouse project. His work has been exhibited at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the Gynocratic Art Gallery, Bathurst Heritage Museum and others, and screened at the Maoriland Film Festival and the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival.

Alexander Henry

Alexander Henry is an Executive Producer and partner at Alfredo Films, one of Toronto’s few BIPOC-led production companies that represent directors in Canada, the US, Europe and Middle East. Alex credits his experience as a two-time Taekwondo Canadian National Champion and Canadian 2012 Olympic qualifier participant for his dedication and persistence in building Alfredo. Since founding the company in 2017, Alex has produced digital ad campaigns for brands such as Post Malone, Facebook Canada, Starbucks and many more. 

Eunice Hau

Eunice Hau is a Calgary-based writer, producer, and director. She works mainly in the independent film industry, but has also worked smaller roles on larger sets, including Jumanji: The Next Level. Most recently, she produced, wrote and directed a web series pilot episode, “Ginger Beef”.

Kyle Hodges

Kyle Hodges is a Prop Master/On Set Props Person who has worked for a number of years on films in Northern Ontario, These include: Cascade, Resident Evil, Cardinal, Flee the Light, and Like a House on Fire to name a few. As a worker in the Props Department, Kyle is responsible for anything an Actor touches or interacts with in a scene. He spends most of his time finding, buying or building props for movies of all genres!
