While doing mandated community service at a local animal shelter, Donna (Macdonald) meets a dog about to be euthanized and decides to adopt him instead. Forming a close bond with the dog, she begins to rely on him to ease her loneliness. But what starts out as an act of compassion soon turns into a compulsion, as she adopts more and more dogs, and things begin to spiral out of control.

A touching film that draws on real experiences to craft a heartbreaking story, Heather Young’s debut feature won raves from critics, along with taking home the prize for Best Canadian Film at TIFF and the Canadian Screen Award for Best First Feature.
