RCtv Livestream
Send in your videos!
We have a special opportunity for your students to see themselves directly on-screen during the upcoming RCtv livestream – and have their questions and comments addressed by our special guest, Christopher Auchter.
Submitting videos is totally optional, but it’s a great way to go a step further, and get students even more engaged in the programme.
The film screening link will be delivered November 17. All videos must be submitted at least a week before the livestream, by Friday, November 20.
If you’d like to receive early access to your film streaming link in order to inform your video questions, just write to contactus@reelcanada.ca. Otherwise, students can record more general questions anytime — even before they’ve watched the films.
Students can record their video questions/comments independently, in pairs or groups, or even as a whole class. Feel free to get creative!
There are two kinds of videos we need:
Comments:
Share your thoughts on the Indigenous short film programme.

Address any of these questions – or anything else relevant!
- What was your favourite aspect of the film and why?
- How did the film make you feel?
- How do you relate to the stories depicted onscreen?
- What did the film teach you?
- Why do you think sharing our traditional/ancestral stories is important?
- What do you enjoy about animation as a medium for storytelling?
- What are some thoughts that came up as you watched?
Questions:
Submit your questions for Christopher Auchter to answer live.

You can let your curiosity run free, ask specific questions about the making of The Mountain of SGaana or Now Is the Time, or use these topics as a starting point:
- The use of animation to tell traditional stories
- How cultural practices can connect us to our past or our culture
- The differences or similarities between documentary and animated filmmaking
- The importance of telling diverse Indigenous stories
- The use of Indigenous languages in film
We’ll select a handful of your videos for the show, where they’ll be addressed directly by director Christopher Auchter.
How to record:
- Videos can be filmed on any device – a phone or laptop camera is fine, and don’t worry too much about quality. We can use any video if the speaker is well-lit – the most important thing is that we can hear them properly.
- Shoot in horizontal/landscape orientation, NOT vertical/portrait.
- Please keep each comment or question under 1 minute long.
- Note: we may edit videos for timing and clarity.
You can also send via WeTransfer, Google Drive link, etc. to contactus@reelcanada.ca
